Happy sleepy Sunday from Mr. B and Harper Lee

A while back, I used to write what many in the book blogging world called a “Sunday Salon;” basically a wrap-up of that week in reading and blogging. As I started blogging less and (because of work) reading less, there wasn’t much to write much a “salon” about, so I stopped. However, inspired by one of my favorite book blogs, Sophisticaed Dorkiness, I’m going to pick up on her version of a Sunday Salon. Bear with me on the name; I’m still working on it.

Time: 5:35 p.m.

Place: The desk in my office. It’s a balmy 60 degrees out so the window is OPEN, I can hear a whippoorwill somewhere and the house is finally being aired out after a long winter — amazing.

Eating: Just finished up some leftover garlic and butter pasta from the week. Probably needed more butter, but I’m OK with any pasta/cheese/garlic combination.

Drinking: Water

Watching: This may be a tough category to fill out since Joel and I aren’t heavy TV watchers. However, we did make a trek to Detroit’s historic Redford Theatre last night to see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. An amazing experience and such a wonderful, beautiful venue.

Reading: Still working on Guns, Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond. Haven’t had as much time to read this week as I would have liked and I almost fell asleep with the book open last night. I don’t have as many evening meetings this week so I’m looking forward to a few nights off for reading.

Working on: Just finished making a raspberry and chocolate tart…oh my goodness. I don’t know if I’ll be able to wait til it finishes hardening in the fridge.

Excited about: Oh, just some good news I can’t tell anyone about … yet! More information to come later.

Anticipating: Not sure how excited I am for roller derby practice tonight but we have a bout next weekend, so I should probably go. Plus, I hear our coach wants us to get into the Harlem Shake action …? Hmm. But last night’s time change hit my body super hard today — I’ve been dead tired all day. I even made a special trip to Starbucks for a grande white chocolate mocha but it was like I never drank the caffeine. Plus, I have more work to do tonight after roller derby — ugh, not anticipating that at all.

Still, I’m hoping this week brings some good news, finalizes some plans and let’s me share all the good news I hinted at earlier.
