Hi, my name is Laura and I have a problem…

And the only prescription is…MORE COWBELL!

OK, so that reference wasn’t completely accurate. Christopher Walken had a fever, but whatevs.

In all seriousness though, I do have a problem and I believe I can blame part of it on extreme Half-Price Books withdrawal: every time I see a cheap book that I know to be good/famous/worth reading, I have to buy it.  It’s terrible, really. I will slink into Borders at random hours of the day, rustle through the clearance bins like some kind of junkie, and—sometimes—experience an exhilarating high when I find a $2 treasure.  A score by any other name wouldn’t feel so great.

Despite the fact that I still have a stack of books 10 deep from my HPB days, and a fall reading list that I recently cut woefully short, I’ve purchased three new books since moving to Michigan.  Three books, during two unexpected shopping trips.  The bad part is that I can’t wait to read them, meaning this addiction will likely carry on for many years.

So what’s new in the TBR pile? Well, let me show you.

The Geography of Bliss, by Eric Weiner

Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig

The Magicians by Lev Grossman
