Booker shortlist

I posted this on Twitter a little bit ago, but here’s the short list for the Man Booker prize, just announced today.  J.M. Coatzee, the South African author, is going for his third Booker prize, while a lot of nerdy literary people are cheering for Hilary Mantel.  I, unfortunately, haven’t read any of these books and am woefully bad at keeping up with the UK’s best books.  Maybe I should create a new reading list similar to my Pulitzer ambitions?  It might help if I someday fulfill my dream to live in London.

The Children’s Book by A.S. Byatt
Summertime by J.M. Coatzee
The Quickening Maze by Adam Foulds (only available in the UK)
Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel
The Glass Room by Simon Mawer (only available in the UK)
The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters

The winner will be announced October 6.
