The book jacket for the new Stephen King novel, ‘Wind Through the Keyhole’
Love the McNally Jackson blog — even though one of the most awesome bookstores just HAS to be in NYC. By the way, this is the first book on my Summer 2012 reading list, unofficially. There is nothing I love more than a) Stephen King and b) the Dark Tower series.
No Putlizer this year for fiction: does this make anyone else sad?
It makes me kind of sad. I like keeping up with the Pulitzer’s fiction list, as it always gives me new reading fodder. I guess 2012-13 is a catch-up year. Not Since 1977: No Putlizer Awarded for Fiction The books start arriving at the end of June, and over the course of the next six [...]
So, I saw ‘The Hunger Games’ movie …
And it was good! I don’t normally talk about movies here because I’m not really sure how. But since The Hunger Games is a book, and I have read it (in fact, it was one of the first books I reviewed here), I thought: why not? You know, there was a lot of hubbub over this [...]
Ah! And now…
And now I can’t find my copy of The Great Gatsby, which is supposed to be next on my spring reading list. You know, this really is getting ridiculous. Now, I know I own this. It’s part of my Revisiting the Classics project. I read it in 10th grade! Ah! The more I think about [...]

My favorite quotes: The one bit of [...]
“Do you know how many bookmarks I own?”
I meant to re-blog this earlier but then it blew up everywhere. So. I’m late. Whatever, still hilarious. And really, really nerdy. These ladies and I have the same tastes in books.
Things that piss me off: censorship in schools
Hmm, so this is a book blog, remember? Maybe I should blog about books every once in awhile. Um, let me see if I remember how to do this. Oh, so this came up this week: Teacher’s Job in Jeopardy for Reading to Kids from Enders Game. According to the mother who filed the complaint [...]
The greatest books of all time, according to the people who write them
A friend posted this on my Facebook wall the other day — a post on Brain Pickings about the recently released The Top Ten: Writers Pick Their Favorite Books. The concept is simple: 125 of America and Britian’s greatest authors at the moment rank the books they believe belong in the world’s top 10. Editor [...]
